David OLGESBY---Dies From Burns David Laverne OLGESBY, 44, of Shumway
and until recently a St. Elmo resident, died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Memorial
Hospital in Effingham of burns suffrered in an explosion at his home in Shumway October 4.
Mr. OLGESBY had suffered third degree burns over all of his body but his feet in the explosion.
He was born February 16, 1926, son of LeRoy and Anna RADCLIFF OLGESBY. Survivors include
his wife, the former Betty MITCHELLWILLIAMS; infant son David Laverne; two daughters, Stella
OLGESBY and Janet OLGESBY; his mother, Mrs. Lester FINLEY; half
brothers, Darell FINLEY, Dennis and Lloyd; a half Sister, Mrs.
Jack & Verla CRUM; eight step-children, John, Betty Ann, Sally Jane, Patty and
Thomas WILLIAMS, and Theresa ALBRIGHT, Billy AUBRAY and Jean PHILBROOK. Mr. OLGESBY was raised by his grandparents, the D.F.
RADCLIFF's, until their death, and after that by his aunt and uncle, and family, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene EALIES, who
also survive. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Brown-May Funeral Home, with
Rev. Garth L. PYBAS of Effingham officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends
may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
